What you need
- The form as a PDF, PNG or JPEG: up to five files of 5 MB each and 20 pages in one fax.
- The fax number it goes back to, with its country code.
- A faxB2B account. A phone works as well as a computer, and a finger is often steadier than a mouse.
1. Upload the form and open the page editor
Choose Send fax, upload the file and choose Open editor and preview. Each page is shown as the black-and-white image that will be faxed, so what you mark up is what the recipient gets.
2. Type the answers
- Choose the Text tool.
- Type one answer in the text field: up to 300 characters on a single line.
- Tap or click the page where it belongs.
Put a date, a name and an account number in separate boxes. Fields of an interactive PDF form are not carried into a fax, so type the answers on the page instead.
3. Add the signature
Choose Visual signature and draw it on the signature line with your finger or the mouse. To type your name as the signature instead, enter it in the text field and use Place text or signature with the position in per cent of the page. Undo and Clear page fix a stroke that went wrong.
4. Save and send this version
Saving creates a new version of the document; the file you uploaded stays as it was. Check every page once more, choose Send this version, enter the number and follow the status until the fax is delivered or failed.
What a visual signature does not do
It is a picture of a signature on the page, like a pen signature on a faxed sheet. It is not a certified e-signature: faxB2B does not check who signed, adds no certificate and does not seal the file. If the recipient asks for a particular e-signature service or an original on paper, ask before you send.
When the signed page comes out wrong
- A faint signature. Thin, small strokes can break up at fax resolution. Draw it larger.
- Text in the wrong place. Undo it and tap again before you save.
- The form is refused at upload. A password-protected PDF cannot be opened; remove the password and export it again.
