What you need
- A PDF, PNG or JPEG of the pages. Up to five files, 5 MB each, 20 pages per fax.
- The fax number in international form, starting with the country code.
- A faxB2B account, opened in an up-to-date browser such as Chrome. A mobile fax app is on Google Play as well.
1. Scan to PDF
If you use Google Drive, tap its Camera button, capture the pages and choose PDF when saving. Drive saves the scan to your Google account; download the PDF if the browser cannot select it directly. You can also use another scanner app that exports PDF. See the Google Drive scanning instructions for current controls.
2. Upload and review
Sign in, open Send fax and tap the file field. Choose your PDF from the available file locations; the labels depend on your device. After the upload you see the pages: rotate anything sideways, reorder by dragging, and remove blank pages. Tick the cover sheet if the recipient expects one.
3. Send and watch the status
Enter the number, confirm, and the fax goes to queued, then sending, then delivered or failed. If the line is busy or nobody answers, faxB2B calls again by itself — up to three calls in total, with default pauses of two and five minutes before the retries.
Watch out for these
- Cloud-only files. If the picker cannot open a file stored in Drive, download a PDF copy to the phone and select that copy.
- Screenshots of a document. They are usually low contrast and hard to read once printed in black and white. Scan the paper instead.
- Long documents. One fax carries 20 pages. Split a longer document and send it as two faxes, each with its own cover sheet and page numbering.
If the upload will not start
Check that the file really is a PDF, PNG or JPEG — a Word or Excel file has to be exported to PDF first. Then check the size: 5 MB per file is the limit, and a colour scan reaches it quickly. Our browser PDF tools can merge and compress the file on the phone without uploading it anywhere.
