Two ways to do it
Merge first. Our browser merge tool combines PDFs and images into one file, in the order you add them, without uploading anything. Use it when you want one archive copy of exactly what was sent.
Or add the files to the fax. faxB2B accepts up to five files of 5 MB each in one fax and merges them in the order you add them. Use this when the pieces have no life of their own.
Decide the order before you upload
- Cover sheet, if the recipient expects one.
- The document they asked for.
- Supporting pages, in the order the document refers to them.
- Anything they only need for reference, last.
Name the files 1-, 2-, 3- and the order becomes hard to get wrong.
Mind the page ceiling
One fax carries 20 pages. If the combined stack is longer, split it: send part one, wait for it to be delivered, then send part two. Label the cover sheets "Part 1 of 2" and "Part 2 of 2", so the recipient knows to look for the rest instead of acting on half the file.
What cannot be merged
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and image formats other than PNG and JPEG have to be exported to PDF first — a browser cannot render those formats reliably, so neither our tools nor the composer will take them. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
Check the merged file once
Open the result and count the pages, then compare that number against the cover sheet. Look at the joins, where a duplicate or a missing page hides. Our page order guide covers rotating and reordering pages once they are in the composer.
